Branded in several places on interior, Stradivari copy, yellow brown varnish.
N.B. Walter Playne; Scottish maker [Glasgow] was a friend and colleague of David Laurie the Scottish dealer and collector well known for his book "Reminiscences of a Fiddle Dealer." This violin is a fine copy of the Stradivari in David Laurie's collection, the tail piece was probably designed and made by Walter Playne.
