Rich red-brown varnish, Amati copy. Made for The Rev. Vinicombe, bearing his name and registered in "History of the Violin 1786" by Sandy-Forster. 
[N.B. The Rev. Vinicombe bought several instruments direct from the Forster family.] Illustrated in "The British Violin" page 178, British Violin Makers Association 2000; and has also been shown in several exhibitions.
